Hohner Marine Band Crossover Harmonica M2009 D Reviews

Product Overview

With the Marine Band Crossover Harmonica, Hohner has expanded the Marine Band series to introduce a top-of-the-line, professional-quality harmonica for discerning musicians who play modern blues, rock, jazz, soul, or funk. The Marine Band Crossover Harmonica's revolutionary laminated-bamboo comb is completely sealed, making it water repellent and exceptionally stable. In combination with the screw-together assembly, the Marine Band Crossover is extremely airtight, with fast, even response and a raspy, powerful sound that's exceptionally well-suited to amplified playing as well as acoustic styles. The crossover Marine Band harmonica's modern-compromise tuning is ideal for single-note playing in different positions as well as easy note bending for contemporary blues, rock, jazz, soul, and funk, while still ensuring a full chord sound. The Marine Band Crossover is an optimal addition to the Marine Band harmonica series. The Marine Band Crossover uses the same reedplates as Hohner's Marine Band Deluxe harmonica for interchangeability.Due to the Marine Band Crossover's compromise tuning, chord playing is smooth and full and the single notes also play nicely in-tune, so playing in positions other then 1st and 2nd is not a problem for intonation. Because of the airtight construction (a sealed comb and screws instead of nails to attach the reedplates), bending, overblows, and overdraws are much easier then on most other diatonic harps. This is great news for beginners learning to bend and speedsters and overblowers out there looking for an airtight harmonica that can keep up with their playing.Choose your desired key!Testimonials about Hohner's Marine Band Crossover:Dave Gage: "One of the best-sounding and playing diatonic harmonicas out-of-the-box. Great for players of all levels and musical styles and worth the extra penny for the increased quality and playability. The sound is bright, but not overly bright. It plays as well as expensive, customized harmonicas."Joe Filisk

Hohner 1896 Harmonic Minor Marine Band Harmonica Bb Reviews

Product Overview

As expert harp player Steve Baker describes in his book, The Harp Handbook, the Marine Band harmonica in Harmonic Minor tuning is in "traditional, minor diatonic tuning - the blow chord is minor, but the draw chord...is major. In 1st position...it has a sound all of its own, which is great for oriental melodies, tangos or russian [sic] folk music...." In general, it has a very soulful, Eastern European sound. This multi-cultural harmonica is designed to play traditional ethnic music that is important to the heritage of many cultures including: minor eastern European, gypsy, Yiddish, Mediterranean, middle eastern, Asian and European/American folk music, as well as various selections of jazz and classic show tunes. The harmonic minor-tuned Hohner 1896 Marine Band Harmonica follows in the footsteps of harps played by world-famous musicians like John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Little Walter, and Paul Butterfield. The Hohner Marine Band is a number-one choice among top professionals and one of the most recognizable harmonicas all over the world. The Marine Band is known for its full tone, wood comb, and its patented cover plates. The Marine Band harmonica was there when harmonica blues was born. The Marine Band harp is a result of Hohner's over 100 years of tradition and German craftsmanship.Choose your desired key!Hohner is a family company founded in 1857 in Trossingen, Germany by Matthias Hohner.
